Co-founded in 2008 by producer Kerstin Emhoff and director Paul Hunter, the goal was to take the traditional commercial production company model and expand it to include every form of creative content. It was also a priority to develop a creative community that could support all kinds of talent. By embracing “creators” producing music videos, YouTube makers, writers, and tech innovators, PRETTYBIRD built one of the most diverse creative communities in the entertainment industry. That community has gone on to produce an impressive body of award-winning work in the last nine years. From Emmy winning documentaries to independent features, to fashion shows and live events, PRETTYBIRD has achieved their goal of expanding its reach beyond that of a traditional commercial production company. In 2015 PRETTYBIRD was named Creativity’s Production Company of the Year. The announcement by Advertising Age and Creativity magazines stated that PRETTYBIRD “tops the A-List with Diverse Oeuvre that Soars, from the Super Bowl to Twitch.” It continues to explain that the Top Shop nod celebrates “established giants who make traditional cinema feel new, as well as daring innovators who help agencies and advertisers find fresh ways of weaving tales.
